SoDAR
Sound Detection and Ranging (SoDAR) is an acoustic based remote sensing technique used extensively in the wind industry.
SoDAR can be used as a flexible site investigation and preliminary site prospecting tool to validate models and also investigate issues such as wind shear. Used predominantly onshore, and costing a third of the price of some LiDAR systems, SoDAR can prove to be a valuable asset for any analyst.
In partnership with AQ Systems Sweden, Oldbaum Services are pleased to offer the AQ500 Integrated SoDAR system. Our services include sales and rental, field service and data services.
Housed in a dedicated trailer based system, powered by a reliable diesel based power solution, with the potential for additional PV supplies, the AQ500 provides a robust, go-anywhere wind energy instrument for a third of the price of some LiDAR solutions.
SoDAR remains a sensible lower cost remote sensing solution able to provide highly detailed wind profile information in a variety of environments.
